Coastal Tour — Praia Formosa to Câmara de Lobos
The Coastal Tour is a private guided electric-longboard session along the Atlantic seafront of Funchal. You ride 3,000W dual-motor all-terrain boards from Praia Formosa along the coastal promenade to the fishing village of Câmara de Lobos, with ocean-cliff viewpoints along the way. It is a flowing, low-technical route, which makes it the right choice for first-time riders, couples and cruise passengers on a half-day window.

COASTAL TOUR — FAQ
What does the Coastal Tour include?
The Coastal Tour meets at Praia Formosa in Funchal at 14h30 and runs approximately 2h to 2h30, riding the coast to the fishing village of Câmara de Lobos and back. It includes your guide, the 3,000W board, full safety gear, insurance, photo stops at coastal viewpoints, and GoPro photos and video of your ride.
Where does the Coastal Tour go?
The route runs from Praia Formosa in Funchal along the coastal promenade to Câmara de Lobos, the traditional fishing village that Winston Churchill famously painted. You stop at ocean-cliff viewpoints for photos, spend time in the village harbour, and then ride the coast back to Praia Formosa with your guide.
Do I need skating experience to join an e-board tour?
No. Most of our guests have never stood on a board before, and that is the normal starting point here. Every Eboard Madeira Adventures tour begins with a full training session on safe, quiet ground, and we only head out once you feel comfortable. Your guide sets the pace around you, not the other way around.
How long does it take to learn to ride an electric longboard?
Most complete beginners feel steady within 15 to 20 minutes of the training session. Because the board is remote-controlled, you are not learning to push, kick or carve at speed — you are learning to stand, balance and trust the brake. Guests in Madeira regularly tell us it clicked faster than they expected.
What is the minimum age for an e-board tour in Madeira?
The minimum age is 14 years old for both the Coastal Tour and the Mountain Tour. Riders under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian on the same booking. Teenagers usually pick up the board faster than adults — the tours work well as a family activity with older kids.
What safety equipment is included?
Full safety gear is provided and included in the price of both tours — helmet plus knee, elbow and wrist protection, fitted to you before the briefing. You do not need to bring or buy anything. Insurance is also included in both the Coastal Tour and the Mountain Tour in Madeira.
Do we ride on public roads with traffic?
It depends on the route. The Coastal Tour runs mostly on the Funchal coastal promenade and quiet seafront sections between Praia Formosa and Câmara de Lobos. The Mountain Tour uses the ER103, a wide, low-traffic mountain road through the pine forest, where your guide leads the line and a support vehicle follows the group.
Where do we meet?
The Coastal Tour meets at Praia Formosa in Funchal at 14h30. The Mountain Tour starts with pickup in central Funchal, then a transfer up to the Poiso / ER103 drop-in point, with the start time agreed at booking. You receive the exact meeting location and your guide’s phone number by WhatsApp when you book.
What should I wear and bring?
Wear comfortable closed shoes — trainers are ideal, no sandals or flip-flops. Bring sunscreen and a light jacket, especially for the Mountain Tour, where the weather at 1,400 m can change quickly. Everything else is provided: the board, helmet and full protective gear. Leave heavy bags behind.
Do you take photos during the tour?
Yes — GoPro photos and video of your ride are included in the price of both tours, at no extra cost. Your guide carries the cameras and captures the route, the viewpoints and your riding, so you are not trying to film yourself while learning to balance.
